IoT platform enables compliance policy management

High-security networking, protection against cyberattacks and centralized management of rights and permissions are offered by the Endian Secure Digital Platform. The Switchboard, central management tool of the platform, now includes a new important feature: the messaging center allows easy sending of information to connected users. At the same time, agreements on compliance guidelines can be collected. Data processing in accordance with the EU's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) can thus be easily implemented.
"The Switchboard brings together the different systems in a company, because it can be integrated into any environment via API. This means that users do not need to get used to a new user interface, but can simply continue to work with the systems they are familiar with," says Endian CEO Raphael Vallazza. "With the new messaging center, administrators and systems have the ability to communicate information to users. For example, it can be used to communicate the time frame in which maintenance is scheduled."
The Endian Secure Digital Platform is used to securely network machines and collect data. This data can then serve as a basis for predictive maintenance, for example. If the machines are located at a customer's site, the customer must be informed about and agree to the collection and use of the data, according to the GDPR. Thanks to the new messaging center, the necessary consents can be obtained very easily. This will display a notification and prevent access to the switchboard until the user has agreed to the compliance guidelines.
Improved firewall functions
In addition to the messaging center, the functions of the integrated firewall have also been optimized. Extensive changes to the overall firewall architecture have made it much easier to create and change access rules. In addition, administrators can create and manage network objects using the new firewall features.
In addition, traffic can be filtered by geographic location. Access from certain countries can be either blocked or enabled. To improve their IT security, companies can use this function to specify, for example, that access is only permitted from countries in which customer relationships or branch offices exist.
