Up, up and Away with Endian UTMs
(18. December 2009)
Crystal Approach, a Canberra-based consultancy and managed services provider were the lucky winners of a hot-air balloon ride competition conducted by distributor Veritech Corporation for the Endian range of Unified Threat Management (UTM) appliances.
The Endian promotion which was run during October 2009 was a co-operate effort between Endian SrL of Milan, Italy and Veritech Corporation who are the master distributors for Endian products across Australasia. The promotion targeted new resellers for Endian products, but also general awareness of the Endian product set, especially as Veritech set about building a strong reseller channel in the region.
“We saw a lot of interest from new resellers across the country in the Endian products, especially from resellers who normally would use competing products like Watchguard and Sonicwall”, said Livio Mazzon , CEO of Veritech Corporation. “Even though it came down to the luck of the draw, Crystal Approach are a worthy winner of this competition. They represent the perfect reseller for Endian products: professional, focused and in-the-know”, he said.
Crystal Approach specialises in managed services and bespoke software development. They have a strong foothold in the government and government agencies – which is a sure sign of success in Canberra. They have been in business for 5 years after a group of six friends decided to leave the corporate world and establish their own IT business. They haven't looked back.
David Mathews, co-Owner and Director of Crystal Approach said, “Initially we will be using the Endian products as part of our own internal infrastructure re-development, but we will then have an active platform from which to on-sell the solution to our customer base.”
Mr Mathews also commented on the huge potential for this type of product for his customer demographic, “Internet security and protection is critical for small to medium government agencies, however, they don't have the budgets or resources of the larger more fully-equipped Government departments. For this reason, open-source based solutions like Endian provide the ideal solution: low cost, scalable and effective. Endian is a hard to beat solution when you look at all the features it offers!”
Mr Mathews of Crystal Approach was joined by Livio Mazzon from Veritech on a still morning flight over Canberra on Thursday 10th of December 2009. Just at take-off, Mr Mathews updated his Twitter status to tell of the impending flight. Soon after he was phoned by the announcer at local radio station 2CC for an on-air, and in-the-air phone interview! Radio listeners heard a unique morning account of the weather and conditions over Canberra – falling short of giving a full traffic report. The flight continued smoothly across Belconnen, atop Lake Burley Griffin, over the top of Parliament House, and landing peacefully in a field to the east of the city. The hot air balloon flight took about one hour and fifteen minutes, and as can be seen in the photos, the view was magnificent and the flight was enjoyed by all.
