The Challenge
The Sava network had migrated from a private MPLS network to a broadband-based VPN network and we had outgrown our previous managed network provider's solution. We needed higher levels of functionality and customization in order to meet the needs of our aggressive project plan. We also required a router/firewall solution that used OpenVPN as we had several custom OpenVPN tunnels needed by all of our remote facilities.
The Solution
We used the Endian Mini for all 205 of our remote facilities and then used a pair of active/standby Endian Macro X2 units in each of our two data center locations. This scenario preserved our original network requirements including disaster recovery between data center locations as well as other network upgrades we had going on in parallel with this project. The reason Endian firewall was chosen was because their products provided the highest levels of functionality at a great cost point. Also, their management and development staff are excellent and their ability to adapt to our project requirements was exceptional.
The Results
We received outstanding results with our Endian deployment and installation. We had no problems configuring and migrating to this platform from our old one. The project received the highest marks for accuracy and timeliness as well. Also, we were able to implement several custom solutions on top of the Endian platform with no impact and very quick turnaround time, something we hadn't been able to get from any other evaluated vendors. We also significantly improved the security functionality at our remote offices by leveraging all of the great security features in the Endian platform.
Statement
Overall we are extremely satisfied with our Endian Firewall experience. The project to convert to the Endian platform was a huge success and provided significant cost-savings to the company. We couldn't be happier with the project and the results!
